Boy what a few days it has been! Can I start from the end and go backwards, would you mind? Because it actually started on a very good note so I’d like to end your post on a good note!
Ok, well today we are trying to get to the bottom of a story we’ve been told regarding a child from the neighborhood. We were told one thing and now are hearing small snippets of different circumstances. The unfortunate thing about all this is, as usual, it’s the child who is caught in the middle and made to suffer the consequences of adults actions.
This was just another “straw to break the camels back” so to speak. I honestly have no idea how much more of this I can take. My heart gets broken for what we think is a legitimate story, we begin to help and then find out we were lied to simply so someone can relieve themselves of a responsibility and my heart is wrenched once again for the child and the hurt and betrayal I feel.
Over the past few days we had a similar story come to light and we are trying to figure that one out too. Plus we had a major managerial mishap where a very important deadline was missed and now we are dealing with the consequences of that.
It’s not been the best few days and I certainly have been struggling with showing the love of Christ…forgive me. And I know there are those out there who are being helped who truly need the assistance and I thank God He allows us to be a part of their lives.
That’s exactly how it all started out too! We had a donor donate funds to begin a feeding program in areas where C4KK Benevolence works. You may remember the story of food distribution in Luanda on New Year’s Day (this was made possible because of the same donor). Monday we purchased several bags of food (including rice, beans, sugar, flour) for a small school. This school, Acres of Mercy, is attempting to give poor families a chance to send their child to school and get a good foundation for their education.
First stop, rice and beans:
Second stop, flour
Making sure we get the correct weight, Bosco studies the scale
Then we off loaded at Acres of Mercy. Those were heavy bags (some 90 kg!).
Catherine and Jimmy (left) are the founders of the school pictured here with Josephine, the head teacher of the school, were so thankful for the assistance and variety of food they will be able to give the kids.
And here’s just a really cute picture of Jimmy and Catherine’s newest family member, a son named Baraka (blessing).
Maybe because this food distribution is such an act of God’s love in action the rest of the day/week went downhill from there.
I haven’t forgotten who it is I serve and I haven’t forgotten why I’m here, but that doesn’t mean my heart is any less apt to break over these situations. I thank God for the moments of joy where His love is seen and appreciated just for what it is…a free gift of salvation. My prayer is someone who has received assistance will see that and be yet another solider in God’s army.
