Recently C4KK Benevolence, through the food distribution program, has begun working with our friend, Beverly in Dunholm, by providing food to local street boys, or as she calls them her “treasures” (love that!). Out of the donated space of a church she’s been able to distribute food to many boys and is not only providing physical sustenance but spiritual as well (along with cleaning wounds and such).
Beverly has provided us with background and dreams of two of the boys and I’d like to introduce them to you.
Peter Munyau is 13 years old and not attending school. Peter, a young talented boy who aspires to be a footballer when he grows up, made the streets his second home. Harsh conditions back at home with his mother in up country (rural area of Machakos) made him to seek refuge in the streets. He was made to believe by his friends there is freedom and one can easily make money while living in the streets. He is ready to change from his current status when given a chance.
Stephen Kisilu is 11 years old, not attending school and is also deaf. Stephen spends most of his time in the street and because of abject poverty at home he and his grandmother pick plastic and scrap metal so they can sell it to earn a little money to feed the family. This has created pressure on Stephen to provide for the family so he has abandoned his studies and social life and hence lives and works in the streets. Stephen was once caught stealing with some of his friends but because he is deaf was the only one caught and beaten. Due to peer pressure he uses drugs because he sees others do it. His lack of ability to communicate is one of his biggest challenges. It was agreed upon at a team meeting (this would be Beverly’s team members) to research possibilities for him to learn sign language and possibly go to school. On a positive note Stephen is an excellent goalkeeper in football and perhaps one day he can obtain his dream of being a footballer.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration in being a part of this ministry in providing food, education, health care, housing, clothing and more but most importantly providing a sense of Hope which can be found through Jesus Christ.
