This post was going to start off with complaints…electricity (lack thereof), people not doing what they say they’re going to do, employee issues, dealing with customer service and the like.  And I guess I did start with complaints but I won’t go into them because honestly they just aren’t worth it.  Instead let me tell you a story.

Terry is a class 1 student from an unknown school and she doesn’t know the name of her home village.  Recently Terry was thrown off a matatu (public transportation) and we don’t know the reason for it.  A woman (I’ll call her Beth) found her and brought her to her home to take care of Terry and then talked with Joseck on the way forward.

Unfortunately since they could not get much information from Terry they attempted to find her school by the color of the uniform she was wearing….but they didn’t have much luck.  They went to the police but was told “take the child with you,we only have cells for offenders and that’s the budget of ration that we have.

Please remember, there are no yellow pages to look up schools, schools have no land lines anyway so you’d have to know someone at the school (teacher, principal) in order to even talk to someone there, even if you could google schools most do not have a web presence, police are no help….so what do you do with a 1st grader who was left alone?

Beth (the woman who had helped Terry) is not able to keep the child, even though she would like to.  Her husband is threatening to throw her out if she doesn’t get rid of Terry.  So Joseck and Catherine (Joseck’s wife) are taking care of Terry while they sort things out.

terryPlease consider donating to C4KK Benevolence and if Terry’s case pulls on your heart strings you can specifically donate for her care.  For our United States friends you can visit our donation page to find details on how to donate (you’ll get a tax deduction too).  Or for our friends in Kenya (or elsewhere in the world) you can find donation options on our C4KK website’s donation page.

Thank you for listening and please keep things in perspective…..I constantly need to remember this!
