Ever notice how you get a grand idea and then God morphs it into something He wants done? Don’t get me wrong, I believe God gives the grand idea to begin with so the possibilities can be seen. But He sees the big picture much better than us and begins to turn the focus around and around until the vision is finally in line with His vision. I believe He’s done that in our instance. Let me explain.
Saved By God’s Grace now has a sister NGO (non-governmental organization) here in Kenya…Caring For Kenya’s Kids (C4KK). We went through the necessary governmental agencies to get C4KK registered and once that was accomplished (thank you Lord for Your providence in that area!) C4KK purchased 3.25 acres of land. The vision was, at first, to build apartments for rent on the north end of the property then work on building a children’s home (with a capacity of around 100 kids) on the south end. As construction began on the north end we had Ann (future house mom for the children’s home) and her 4 children plus 2 orphans living in rented apartments across the road from the property. We began questioning the reason for apartments when we could move the kids from renting to C4KK’s property. The prospect of a children’s home was becoming less of a reality too due to permits being held up (requests for bribes which we refuse to pay) and funding for the actual project. Thus the vision for C4KK Children’s Shelter was born. The Shelter will be able to house up to 24 kids (that keeps it under the “home” category and the governments regulations).
Construction continues (photos tomorrow!) and Ann and the kids are getting very excited as they watch their new home being built. I ask you to please keep this project in your prayers…God will continue to give us discernment as to which direction we are to move, His providence will meet each new obstacle and for the basic safety of the workers as they construct C4KK Children’s Shelter.
Oh and here’s the logo we’ll be using for the Shelter:
which is also how the gate will be painted (I really need to get started on that):
