Saved By God’s Grace certainly love our Kenyan grandmothers and we thank you for supporting them.  They are some of the strongest women I’ve met.  They range in ages from 85 to 105 and many are caring for their grandchildren as well.  Their options are limited and they struggle on a daily basis to feed their family, attempt to get their grandchildren into school and keep them warm and sheltered.

This food program is specifically for these grandmothers (and a few grandfathers).  Some walk over 3 hours getting here but when they arrive they are greeted warmly and shown a place to sit.  Faith, the organizer of this program, leads them in Bible study, worship songs and prayer.  They are able to fellowship with one another and they each understand the others situation.

A hot meal, normally rice, beans and cabbage, is prepared and served.  There is much talking during this time (there is never a hurry in Kenya!) because for many of them this is the only real social time they have with others in their same situation.  Once the meal is ended they begin to line up for the little food items they will be given to take home (and carry back those 3 hours….again, they are very strong women!).

Hope is present at these monthly meetings and we pray they leave feeling loved, cared for and a little closer to Jesus.

We ask for your prayerful consideration in assisting us with this program.
