With all the Covid, political and just general unheaval of life I wanted to take a step back to remind all of us, me included, of the hardships our brothers and sisters in Kenya continually face.  I have to look around my surroundings and genuinely say thanks be to God for the blessings He has bestowed on me and my family.  That thanks also extends to our friends in Kenya who are working diligently in not only helping to bring housing, food and other necessities to those in need but to extend the saving message of Jesus Christ through that assistance.

Peter recently sent a request for assistance but I must tell you that was not his ultimate intention.  Here’s what he’s told us:

I came across these four orphaned children being taken care of by their grandmother. Unfortunatley she passed this past July (2020).  I mobilized some friends of good will who promised to help in one way or another.

They managed to get building stones and cement and work started early September. The progress was impressive as people honored their pledges and by mid-October the walls were done.

We are now faced with one remaining challenge, the roofing materials.  Many have financial constraints because of the abrupt opening of schools (class 8 and Form 4) and the work has stopped.  (The Kenyan government closed schools due to Covid until January but then suddenly opened them).

Now with November rains I have decided to seek help, though this was not my intention. My intention was to use the local friends and see if they can own up to the need. I’m happy they have tried despite the disruption of our program.

The cost of the new roof is $800 and if you’d like to help with this please visit our donate page where you can give securely online.  Please write “new roof” in the comment section, thanks.

Here’s another housing opportunity you may feel lead to assist with.

Grandma Jessica is taking care of her two grandchildren, Verina and Dan.  They moved into an abandoned store opposite where their house is because the home is a danger to stay in for fear of collapse.  Recently it’s rained heavily and our friend tells us, “I can’t even imagine how they are going to lay their backs on a bare floor because they do not have beddings.”

To build Grandma Jessica a new home will cost $1,500 (USD).  Please prayerfully consider assisting this family and donate online here.  Simply write “Jessica’s home” in the comment section.

God bless you as you continue to navigate through these trying times but please give God thanks for what He has blessed you with!
