That’s what I’m doing today (Sunday)…taking a few breaths to get ready for the upcoming week.  Tarrin left early Friday morning (you can read her blog and see what we did the last few days she was here)

our final photo from this visit...God willing there will be more visits to come!

I did pretty well with her leaving, no tears and it was a struggle to watch her leave but God gave me the strength to get through it.  Not only was I bottled up emotionally it ended up being a kind of frustrating day – I say “kind of” because Tarrin left me money to get a new phone which I got first thing in the morning, even before breakfast!  But seems the “plans” went downhill from there.  Thought we would go see Harry Potter since we were in town but the movie wasn’t playing until 3pm and I wasn’t going to wait around then end up in a jam for 3 hours on the way home, so we thought we’d see Transformers 3 which was posted to play at 11:30am.  When we got to the ticket booth they informed us no movies would be playing until the afternoon…bummer no movie for me.

Then we decided to find the movie store I had heard about where we can purchase inexpensive movies.  Using my new techno phone we got google maps and found the location but couldn’t find the actual store…remember no street signs, no addresses and usually no signs telling you which store is which.  So I’m sure we were on top of it but never found it, and I wasn’t in the mood to ask directions (the last time we did that we ended up making big circles around the city).  Plus this place was just a stones throw away from Kibera (the largest slum in Africa, not Kenya, but Africa) and I didn’t want to drive through there.  While Chuck and Tarrin were in Nairobi with friends they drove through part of it and was threatened that if they took photos they would be stoned…didn’t want that experience so we left to come home.

Saturday we headed out to the property.  Construction is coming along nicely but we are looking for funding to help complete the roof (if you would like to help please visit our website to donate)

left is the back of the building, right is the front with windows into each room. The entry door for each room is inside the building.

This is the main entrance from the children's shelter to the farm

Isaac and Daniel stand in one of the doorways. Enough room for 12 boys and 12 girls!

Bosco and Roman have begun planting banana trees, skuma, spinach and tomatoes 🙂

The first fruits of the property!

This week I’ll be busy at Nice View.  School ends this Tuesday and I am updating sponsor kids photos to send to their sponsors along with updates on grades.  Plus I’m setting up a meeting with the secondary students and their guardians and discussing their grades hopefully this Saturday.  Then I think once this week is done I’ll get to cleaning my house!
